Views wanted on tree planting

RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on the planting of trees on verges in Stockton Heath.
Members of the parish council’s Village Committee had a visit from Walton parish councillor Robert Hardie.
His parish had been concerned that diseased trees, on roadside verges, had been removed by the borough council but not replaced.
Following a Walton questionnaire arrangements were made for the borough to plant 29 trees on the verges of Mertoun Road and Stetchworth Road in Walton at a cost of £4,600 – funded by Creamfields money and a grant from the borough council’s Stronger Together initiative.
Stockton Heath Parish Council is to discuss planting of trees on verges with borough councillors and is seeking residents’ views.

  1. Wearing my Warrington Nature Conservation Forum and Mesey Forest hats on well done make sure that the trees are of an appropriate species. The ones planted in my neck of the woods by the NewTown have grown to such and extent and without thinning (which shouldn’t be a problem in this case).
