MP seeks information on NHS cuts

A WARRINGTON MP is calling for more information on the cuts being made to NHS services in the town.
Helen Jones, (pictured) the Warrington North MP, wants clarity on the cuts and proposed reorganisation of management structures. She said £23 million had been cut in the town last year, and proposals are for a further £25 million cuts this year.
She cited reports that health chiefs in Warrington have yet to identify more than £10 million savings.
The MP said: “The uncertainty that is being created by reports of the staggering amount of money that is being cut in the next year is unacceptable. Constituents are contacting me to ask what services are going to be stopped or changed. What we need is clear answers from the PCT.”
She has written to the PCT and the new GP Consortium asking for details of where the cuts will fall this year and how this will affect patient care in Warrington.
People are confused and face uncertainty, following the emergence of the GP Consortium, about who is responsible for delivering health services in Warrington, she said.
“The Bill that may bring in GP consortia has been halted and is being changed almost daily. I am concerned that health managers in Warrington are moving too fast to introduce changes that haven’t even become law yet,” she said.
“On top of all this it was announced last week that Warrington PCT is joining a ‘cluster’ of other PCTs across Cheshire. We are in danger of losing sight of who exactly is in charge of the NHS in Warrington and where accountability lies.”

  1. I am amazed that the woman hasn’t got her fingers on the pulse. Surely she should be working with the NHS and be part of the process, not on the outside and in ignorance like the rest of us.

Still, better late than never I suppose.

  2. At least she is asking the questions and will hopefully get some answers which she can relay to the resto of us….and maybe she has not been invited to work ‘with’ them behind the closed doors.

  3. We seem to all be in the dark. What about patient care? Perhaps when these questions are answered we MAY get aq better picture. Don’t hold your breath.
