WARRINGTON Disability Partnership’s super new Centre for Independent Living is to be officially opened on Wednesday, June 8 at 9.30pm.
Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs will be performing the ceremony and afterwards there will be a tour of the refurbished buildings and an introduction to the WDP teams at the centre and the facilities available.
In the afternoon, the building will be open to inspection by WDP’s community partners.
The refurbishment project was made possible thanks to a successful funding bid to the Big Lottery Community Assets Fund, in partnership with Warrington Borough Council.
Further funding from WREN and individual WDP supporters has further enhanced the project.
In total more than £1.2 million has been spent to provide a fit for purpose building and learning centre for WDP services.
The centre now includes:
*A new two storey workshop providing a base for mobility equipment recycling, maintenance and training service
* An additional meeting room in a conservatory style extension from the new community cafe
* An additional single storey extension housing new computer training facilities
* An innovative mobility training and test track for users of mobility equipment including electric scooters and wheelchairs.
