Deaf awareness campaign

A CAMPAIGN themed “Look at Me” is being run in Warrington this week – Deaf Awareness Week
The week, run by the UK Council on Deafness, aims to increase awareness of the different types of deafness.
It highlights the different types of communication used by deaf, deafened, deaf blind and hard of hearing people, such as lip reading and sign language.
A new sensory and telecare services team was launched by the borough council recently which provides help to people with sight and hearing loss and provides assistive technology, such as fall detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, to help people to lead more independent and safer lives.
The team works with people with varying degrees of hearing loss, including those that are profoundly deaf and use British Sign Language.
Anyone who needs more information about the services should contact the access social care team on 01925 444239 or visit www.mylifemyway.co.uk
