Neighbours oppose school extension

TWO nearby residents have objected to plans to extend a popular primary school.
They claim increased numbers of pupils at Ravenbank Primary School, Pepper Street, Lymm would result in increased traffic congestion and pedestrian safety issues.
The school currently has 330 pupils and numbers are expected to rise to 420 by 2016-17.
School governors want to adde a single storey reception area, junior classroom and small hall extension, with new perimeter fencing, new fire escape, car park extension and additional hardstanding to form a new play area.
Planning officers acknowledge there are some highways concerns at the school at peak times, but point out that improvements are planned to Pepper Street and the school travel plan is to be updated which will ease the problems.
Local councillor Sheila Woodyatt said: “It is an excellent scheme which will greatly improve the educational facilities for the pupils and also alleviate some of the traffic issues in the area.”
