Town's buses go smart!

3

FOLLOWING recent trials, the smart-card technology fitted to Network Warrington buses is now live.
All Disabled and Older Person’s passes have a smart chip built into them, so they can now read them automatically.
Network Warrington is the latest operator to join a Cheshire-wide scheme to read and process the pass data automatically, which also offers a multi-operator stored value card that is useful for customers making journeys on different operators within the scheme.
When a customer boards a bus they simply put the pass on the “target” on the top of the ticket machine, which automatically checks ticket validity and dispenses a ticket.
Posters and other information will be appearing on buses and the company is engaging with local Older Persons groups to help distribute the information.
