A sign of Wolves' success

WARRINGTON Wolves fans now have even more reason to be proud of their team.
New primrose and blue signs have been put up on arterial roads around the borough which state: “Welcome to Warrington, home of the Warrington Wolves.”
The signs reflect the huge part that rugby has played in Warrington’s history and show that the borough council and the club are proud of Wolves’ achievements.
Cllr Bob Timmis, the council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “As we are in the process of putting together our bid for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, it seemed timely to put these signs up and demonstrate to everyone who visits Warrington just how proud we are to be the home of the Wolves.”
Cllr Mike Hannon, who first had the idea for the signs, added: “I am immensely proud of the achievements of the Wolves and the signage is a small token to acknowledge the success of the team.
“They have given Warrington civic pride and driving past the signs does make you feel proud and lets opposing teams and fans know they have arrived.”
Andy Gatcliffe, chief executive of Warrington Wolves, said: “The club is hugely honoured by this signage and everyone connected with the Wolves, including of course our magnificent and loyal supporters, would like to thank the borough council for the partnership recognition: club – borough council – community.”
