Crackdown on rail crime

A MAJOR operation to drive anti-social behaviour from the railways starts in Warrington and across the North West tomorrow (Sunday)
Operation Serenity is being mounted by British Transport Police (BTP) across the region and will run for a week.
Officers will tackling anti-social behaviour and its effects on rail passengers and staff.
Chief Inspector Eddie Wylie said: “Anti-social behaviour in any form has a massive impact on those who travel and work on the railway.
“At best, ASB can be annoying, but at its worst it can be intimidating and can be the precursor to other crimes, including violence.
“Through our day-to-day policing and the work of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams we are already doing a lot to tackle ASB, but there is more to be done.
“The aim of Operation Serenity is to bring further calm to the railway and nip emerging problems in the bud before they have the opportunity to develop into larger issues.”
Throughout the week officers will be conducting special patrols at stations across the region and on problematic routes and services.
BTP will also be executing arrest warrants and carrying out further initiatives to combat retail theft and travel fraud.
Chief Insp Wylie added: “We have designed the operation to specifically tackle those areas which have been highlighted to us by rail staff and passengers – it is their railway and as such is only right that they have a say in how it is policed.”

Total return price from warrington to London £305.50

Now who do they arrest for retail theft or travel fraud ?

  2. You can do a first class return to Londan for less than £80.00 (which is still a lot dearer than it used to be!!) just by booking a week or so in advance…..second class is less than £50.00 so still cheaper and easier than driving plus if you get the express service, you are in london in less than 2 hours. DLR prices can be kept down using a £10.00 travelcard which also allows use on the underground!) The only problem is when you turn up at the station for same day travel…. that is expensive!…. (although I’m guessing with a name like choo choo you know that already!)
