THE Duke of Westminster – patron of the Warrington-based Cheshire Search and Rescue team – dropped in on a training session to see for himself the valuable work the team do.
The sessions was held at the former police training centre at Bruche and the Duke, who is used to outdoor activities as part of his Army involvement, was shown some of the equipment the team uses and learned how the team searches in open areas and buildings.
Team chairman Joanne McClure said: “The whole team has been looking forward to meeting The Duke. We’re very grateful that he took time out of a busy schedule to come and take part in one of weekly training sessions.”
Cheshire Search and Rescue Team are on call 24/7 every day of the year. It was formed in 2004 to assist Cheshire Police and other emergency services in missing person searches or with major incident support. No charge is made for the team’s services and every member is a volunteer.
