A THIRD man arrested in connection with a serious attack on a Rugby League fan at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday, September 26 has been released on bail.
The 29-year-old from Pontefract was questioned by police over the weekend in connection with the assault on 32-year-old David Singer, from Halifax, who is still in hospital in a coma after suffering serious head injuries. His parents are near his bedside.
Two other men had previously been arrested but were both released on bail pending further enquiries.
Mr Singer – a Halifax supporter – was attacked on a coach park in Dallam Lane at about 8.15pm.
He had been to the National League Grand Final between Halifax and Featherstone Rovers, which was played at Warrington.
Police have always said there was a strong indication that the attacker was a Featherstone supporter who got on to a coach to return home after commiting the offence.
Anyone who has information which could be helpful to the police enquiry is asked to call 0845 458 0000 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
