Helping hand for disabled youngsters

HELP is on hand for disabled young people in Warrington facing difficulties attending youth centre, after school clubs or other public places.
The borough council’s “Inclusion Matters” has money available to make grants for special equipment, adaptations, etc.
Community groups, etc can apply for grants of up to £2,500 from a £50,000 fund for equipment for disabled young people.
Individuals can apply for grants of up to £1,000 from a £30,000.
Support, advice and free training is also available.
Coun Sheila Woodyatt, the council’s executive member for education and young people, said: “We are currently making all our council services including leisure centres and youth centres even more accessible to everyone.
“We are also speaking to local businesses and services so that children and young people can get the most out of what they have to offer too.”
Businesses in Warrington are also eligible to apply to cover the cost of equipment or improvements needed in order to increase accessibility to all young customers.
