Town to tackle cup giant killers

2

WARRINGTON Town FC will take on F.A Cup giant killers Northwich Victoria

in a pre-season friendly at Cantilever Park on Tuesday August 3, kick

off 7.45pm.
It is one of several high profile games lined up before the start of the season, which will also see Warrington defending the Peace Cup against Crewe United from Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Saturday July 31, kick off 3pm.
Prior to that Town will entertain AFC Liverpool on Saturday, July 17, kick off 3pm.
This will be followed by a local derby against Moore United away at the Tetley Walker club ground on Long Lane.
Another confirmed friendly for Joey Dunn’s men is at home to Marine on Tuesday August 10, kick off 7.45pm.
Following on from their most successful season in 15 years, Town who finished a creditable 9th in the Northern Premier League 1st Division, will be hoping to kick on and push for promotion in the newly branded Evo-Stick Division One North.
It is hoped the Northwich Victoria game will attract a large crowd. The club who beat League One Charlton in last season’s F.A Cup are currently appealing against their relegation to the Evo-stick Premier League from the Conference North, for failing to settle debts with creditors.
Meanwhile work is going on behind the scenes to provide Warrington’s Cantilever Park with a new Vice Presidents’/sponsors lounge, a new snack bar/kitchen facility and a new all weather community sports pitch.

  1. Some good, tough friendlies lined up for this season, lets hope we can get the crowds down and start the season as we mean to go on. Up the Town!

  2. Northwich’s appeal, and that of Salisbury City, who also faced expulsion from the Conference were both dismissed. Northwich wil be in the Evo-stik Premier Division next season, just one league above us. A few seasons ago that seemed a highly unlikley eventuality. Times soon change in football.

    Come on England.
