The appeal of real bells

3

THE peal of real church bells may soon by heard in Stockton Heath.
Vicar the Rev Michael Ridley has been offered a set of church bells and is seeking funding to have them installed in the 152-year-old Grade 2 Listed building.
Coun Marilyn Timmins told Stockton Heath Parish Council the vicar was seeking funding for the bells.
She said “He wants money for funding for this. It would be nice to hear real bells in the village instead of a recording.”
Coun Graham Roughsedge questioned whether the church tower would strong enough to support the weight of the bells.
Members agreed that the vicar be asked put his funding request in writing.

  1. I would be nice to have real bells back in the church tower. They used to have some in there as I can remember having a go at bell ringing when I was in my teens so the tower must be strong enough. It was great fun but hard work 🙂
