Ray of hope for toilets

A RAY of hope for those campaigning for public toilets in the village emerged at a meeting of Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Members have been campaigning for several years to get the toilets at The Forge shopping centre re-opened after they were closed due to vandalism and inappropriate behaviour.
The battle seemed to have been lost however. The borough council said the cost would be too high and although the disabled toilet stayed open for a while this was also closed after the door was damaged.
Coun Stephen Taylor, a member of the working party campaigning to get toilets provided, said there was new hope.
He said the Stronger Together partnership, recently formed, had said it may be able to help.
He said a plan to get local shopkeepers to allow public use of their toilets, had been put on the “back burner” for the time being.
