Factory to become a church?

PLANNING bosses at Warrington have deferred a decision on a plan for a former factory building to be converted into a church.
The building, in Europa Boulevard, Westbrook was built 27 years ago but has stood empty for the last seven years.
Members of Warrington’s development control committee decided to visit the site before deciding if Oasis Warrington – a Christian church established less than two years ago – could have permission to convert the building.
The committee was told the church had a growing congregation of around 120.
A small number of staff would work from the building during the day.
The plan was strongly opposed by Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council and 10 nearby residents.
They were concerned about evening and weekend use of the building, noise, traffic and parking issues and public amenity issues.
But two nearby residents supported the scheme on the grounds it will have a positive impact on the community.
Oasis Warrington has been holding services and meetings at the Pyramid, in Warrington town centre and at Penketh High School.
But they say they need a permanent home as the congregation is likely to increase in size.
