British Transport Police detectives have called off an appeal to locate a Warrington man wanted in connection with a serious assault on a train between Manchester Piccadilly and Warrington Bank Quay.
Investigating officers have located the man whose CCTV image was circulated earlier this week.
However, they are still hoping to hear from other witness who were on-board the train which left Manchester Piccadilly at around 11.15pm on Saturday, 25 March.
Detective Constable Mark Douglas said: “There was an altercation on board the train in which one man received serious injuries including a fractured ankle and cuts to his face and body.
“We have spoken to several people about the incident, but still need to trace further witnesses.”
It is believed the altercation took place as the train pulled out of Manchester Oxford Road station.
DC Douglas added: “There is no doubt that anyone who witnessed the fight would remember it and I ask anyone who has information about the incident and who has not already spoken to police to come forward.”
Anyone with information about the incident please ring BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
