IT’S official. We’re going to have an election!
The Mayor has taken delivery of the writs for Warrington North and South – the official confirmation that there is to be a General Election on May 6.
Gill Clarke from Royal Mail visited the Town Hall and presented the writs to Mayor, Coun Brian Axcell, who is Returning Officer for this year’s elections.
Chief executive of Warrington Borough Council, Diana Terris, was also present as Acting Returning Officer.
Writs are issued to each constituency across the country by the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery when the Government dissolves Parliament, and officially mark the start of the election period.
