Volunteers wanted – to walk 5 miles

NHS Warrington, in partnership with the borough council’s arts and sports engagement team, is offering free walk leader training to local people who would like to lead short local walks in their community.
But applicants must be prepared to go on 3-5 mile walks at least twice a month.
Jannette Norton, NHS Warrington’s Healthy Ageing Project co-ordinator said:
“Walking is a really great way to keep fit and get some fresh air. Offering to be a walk leader provides opportunities to meet other people in our local community and improve your health at the same time.”
There are many opportunities to identify walks which will enable community members to enjoy their local green space. Training will take place next month during a full day session. But applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering regular short walks no longer than 3-5 miles at least twice per month.
Anyone interested in finding out more or wanting to book a place for training should contact Jannette Norton either by phone 01925 843725 or email [email protected]
