  1. Excellent job by the round table, but must we have at every event in Lymm the fairground, the burgers and the loud music. The Duck race should be just that, with the balloon race and local charity stalls. But now every event in Lymm is the same, is the Duck Race, Dickensian, May Queen, or Food Fest, we can’t tell because they are all the same.

Lets keep the events unique and different, next thing you know we’ll be selling burgers at the carols round the cross.

  2. Martin – unfortunately the commercial stalls & fairground are a necessity, as they provide a substantial proportion of the monies required to fund the road closures that make these events possible. If we didn’t have them – most of the funds that are raised for local charities would instead end up going to fund bank holiday overtime for WBCs highways contractors.

You may remember that Duck Race was under threat a couple of years ago – this was because road closures were being forced upon the event. The only solution to this was to stop launching the ducks from above the upper dam – so the A56 didn’t need to be closed for the whole day (??!!), and to close Eagle Brow/The Cross between The Dingle & Rectory Lane – and find some more money
