Parr Hall refurb starts next month

THE £1.2 million re-development of Warrington’s Parr Hall will start around the middle of next month and will take more than six months to complete.
It will mean the town’s premier concert venue will be closed until the autumn, although the adjoining Pyramid arts centre will be unaffected.
Coun Ian Marks, leader of the borough council, said: “Work on the improvement of the Parr Hall starts in mid April and will continue through until the beginning of October.
“There will be new, more comfortable seating, a bar will be added on the circle floor for the first time and the bar facilities on the ground-floor will be improved.
“The decor will be lightened up and changed from the colour scheme that was more appropriate for the Victorian era
” A big opening event is planned for the autumn and the intention is to position the hall as a major entertainment venue in the north west.
“We have already been putting on more attractive acts and we expect to improve them still further. Many people are still not aware of what good acts we now stage.”
An earlier phase of improvement was completed last year, with improvements to lighting and sound facilities and this has already made the hall more suitable for larger shows.
