STOCKTON Heath Methodist Dramatic Society’s Spring production is the bitter sweet, wry comedy “Mister Wonderful,” by James Robson.
Full of humorous innuendo, the play highlights the plight of a middle-aged single woman, desperate to find her “Mr Right,” while trapped by her duty to her ailing mother.
Factory worker Norma lives with and cares for her bed-ridden but manipulative mother, Phoebe – at the expense of her love life. Through a series of blind dates, Norma discovers that decent and suitable men are thin on the ground – until she latches on to Geoff.
But “Mr Wonderful” does not live up to his name.
Strong performances from the cast, guarantee an entertaining evening while raising some thought-provoking issues.
Director Kevin Mottershead said: “I have a small but perfectly formed cast – who have all had good, but different roles in our previous productions.
“After three goes at directing comedies, I’ve also personally been given the chance to try something a little meatier.
The play will run for 3 nights from March 4-6 at the Stockton Heath Methodist Church Hall, Walton Road.
