Giving local people influence

SIX public meetings are being held across east Warrington over the coming month giving local people an opportunity to influence important decisions about the areas where they live.
The meetings are being held as part of the borough council’s Stronger Together initiative, which encourages neighbourhood working by communities, organisations and individuals.
Representatives from the police, council, health service, fire service, community and voluntary groups will be present to talk about local activities, what needs improving and how improvements can be made.
The meetings are at the following locations and times: Newchurch Parish Hall, Culcheth on Wednesday February 24 at 7.30pm; The Encounter Centre (formerly Silver Birch pub) at Birchwood on Tuesday March 2 at 3.30pm; Fearnhead Cross Community Centre, Thursday March 11 at 7pm; St Helens School, Rixton, Thursday, March 18 at 7pm; Croft Village Hall, Tuesday, March 23 at 7pm; Woolston Mission, Warren Lane, Woolston, Tuesday, March 30 at 7pm.
More information about the meetings is available from Diane White, neighbourhood area co-ordinator, on 01925 442367.

  1. I hope this is not just another ‘ticked box’ excercise and that the local people do indeed get the opportunity to INFLUENCE important decisions about the areas in which they live. Good if it works 🙂

  2. I agree with Dizzy’s comment – you do get the feeling when you attend these ‘consultations’ that it is just another ‘paper exercise’…….decisions have already been made. I wish I wasn’t so cynical!
