FIRE crews from Warrington rescued an elderly man from his flat after he collapsed having apparently suffered from a stroke.
They broke into the first floor flat in Thurston Close, Great Sankey after the occupants of the flat below had raised the alarm when water began to cascade through their ceiling.
The man had collapsed after turning on a tap, causing a bowl to overflow and cause flooding.
Firefighters administered first aid until paramedics reached the scene and took over. The man, in his mid-70s, was taken to hospital by ambulance. His condition is not known.
