Time for Fairtrade tea!

1

TEA-DRINKERS in Warrington are being urged to help out with a target of drinking 1,001 brews as part of a series of events planned for Fairtrade Fortnight 2010.
Organisers are asking the people of Warrington to swap their usual tea brand for a Fairtrade equivalent to help secure a better deal for producers in the developing world.
A Mad Hatter’s Fairtrade Tea Party will take place on February 27 under the Old Fish Market canopy at Golden Square from 11am until 3pm.
Families can meet Alice and her friends, play giant croquet with the Queen of Hearts, try a free, warming Fairtrade cuppa and sample free Fairtrade foods as well as viewing a Fairtrade Fashion Dash.
On March 6, a ‘Strictly Fairtrade Tea Dance’ from 2pm until 4 pm will be held at the rear of the Events Hall of Warrington Market. No partner is needed and dancers can have fun learning dances from around the globe.
Take a box of tea or a packet of biscuits to “Fair 4 All”, Warrington’s permanent fair trade shop during Fairtrade Fortnight and they’ll swap it for a free Fairtrade equivalent. The Fairtrade Tea Trail will take place around the market. A prize will be awarded for every completed quiz sheet.
More events are being planned in Warrington schools, colleges, work places, churches and community groups.
Anyone planning an event is asked to contact Rev. Mavis McDonnell of the Fairtrade Steering Group at [email protected] or 01925 634408 to add the total of cups of tea drunk to the Warrington target.
