BUSINESSES in Warrington are being invited to get involved in a £250 million school building programme encompassing two boroughs.
Warrington and Halton borough councils have joined forces to secure the funding under the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme.
Fifteen schools across the two boroughs will be rebuilt or modernised.
The two councils want local firms involved in the programme and have invited them to an event at the Daresbury Park Hotel on Friday, February 19.
Running from 9.30am until 12.30pm, the occasion presents an opportunity for local operators to meet the two consortia in the running to undertake programme with a view to joining their supply chains and getting involved in shaping the future of education in the two boroughs.
A Warrington council spokeswoman said: “From plumbers and plasterers to retailers of fixtures and fittings, all are welcome to come along and meet representatives from the two consortia.”
They are: Halton and Warrington Learning Partnership: lead consortia Laing O’Rourke.
Local Transformational Partnership: lead consortia Hochtief, Galliford Try and Vinci.
Anyone interested in attending the event should email their contact details to [email protected] by Monday (February 15)
In Warrington, three schools – Lysander High, William Beamont High and Penketh High – will be rebuilt, while there will be a major modernisation project at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High.
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the largest single schools capital investment programme for more than 50 years. The aim is to rebuild or renew 146 schools across England.
