A WARRINGTON MP has criticised the borough council for getting its priorities wrong and leaving streets “covered in litter and dog mess.”
Warrington North MP Helen Jones (left) and Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington South Nick Bent (right) attacked the council’s budget proposals to cut services to the most vulnerable while spending more on bureaucracy and “vanity” projects.
The MP said: “This council really does have its priorities wrong. It wants to spend money on street entertainment while cutting back on street cleaning in the town centre and leaving many of our streets covered in litter and dog mess.
“They really do need to get the basics right. They keep complaining that they haven’t enough money but the fact is that they have had significant increases in government grant but they just don’t spend it properly.”
Mr Bent said the council spent money on “more accountants and bureaucrats” while cutting child care and services to the most vulnerable. He said they also want to promote “brand Warrington.”
He said: “Surely their priority should be to deliver adequate services to our residents before they do anything else. In the recent bad weather they demonstrated just how far short they are at providing anything like an adequate service.”

It is time the pair of them got proper jobs. Jones has rapidly become Ms Panic but it beggars belief that she complains about money spent on bureaucracy considering the money she takes out of the public purse.
