A BEAUTY queen who is also a Sunday School teacher has won a place in a prestigious international contest.
Catriona Cameron, the reigning Miss Cheshire, will be representing Daresbury in the final of the Miss Galaxy 2010 pageant. And she will not have far to travel as the glamorous event is being held on March 27 at the Daresbury Park De Vere Hotel.
She said: “I’m honoured to be representing Daresbury. I attend Daresbury All Saints Church every week and I am a Sunday School teacher. I am also the youngest member of the Daresbury Parochial Church Council so really understand the dynamics of this beautiful village.”
Catriona, 22, said Daresbury – normally a peaceful village – had become famous for hosting the “notorious” dance festival Creamfields.
If it goes ahead again this year she hopes to use her new title to influence proceedings.
“We’ve started a focus group at Daresbury Church to discuss how we can work as a community to reduce the anti-social implications of the event, and also if we can bring a Christian ethos to the festival,” she said.
“I hope that being Miss Galaxy Daresbury helps me to positively represent the views of the young people in the village and the surrounding areas.”
The winner of Miss Galaxy 2010 will travel to the USA with contestants from all over the world to compete in the Miss Galaxy international final in the summer.
