WARRINGTON Borough Council has joined forces with the Energy Saving Trust to offer free, impartial advice to people wanting to reduce their CO2 emissions, fight climate change and reduce their energy bills
The Trust – a not for profit organisation funding by the government – has written to a number of homes in the borough asking the occupants to take part in an energy efficiency survey.
Its aim is to gather information about the way local residents use energy in their homes -and the survey takes no more than 10 minutes to complete.
The Trust will then send all homeowners who completed the survey a report detailing current and potential energy ratings along with tips to cut bills by up to £300 each year.
Steve Lang, Energy Saving Trust advice centre manager said: “Climate change affects us all. If we all made one small change, it would make a big difference. Our advisors are here to make it easy for you to make those simple changes and take the first steps towards choosing a low carbon lifestyle.”
Coun Alan Litton, the borough council’s executive member for environment services (pictured) said: “We would encourage every resident who has received a letter about the survey to take part. Only by working together can we make a real difference to the environment and, by taking part in the survey, residents will be helping us deal with climate change more effectively.”
Any one who has not been sent the survey can still contact the Energy Saving Trust advice centre free on 0800 512 012 for advice on how to make their home greener.
The council has developed its own climate change strategy and details are at www.warrington.gov.uk
