New community centre set to open

COMMUNITY groups in Fairfield and Howley, Warrington, will benefit from a new multi purpose community centre which opens its doors next week.
The Fairfield and Howley Neighbourhood Project officially opens on January 11 and aims to build community engagement, offering space for local groups and organisations to meet.
It will provide additional resources to aid Warrington residents, such as an IT suite, community rooms and a conference facility. It also offers office space for rent to social enterprise organisations services to the area.
The new centre is a community-led project, made possible by the Church of England Educational Trust who granted a lease allowing the former St Elphin’s CE Primary School building to be used as a community facility in Fairfield and Howley.
A dedicated voluntary committee has been formed to manage the project, which is chaired by Rev. Cannon Finlay with Barbara Nicholls, Community Development Officer at Warrington Housing Association playing a supporting role.
Warrington Housing Association has supported the centre and remains committed to the project. The Association recently assisted with some structural work to the building improving accessibility and continues to manage refurbishments within the centre as it prepares for its opening.
