Six of the best!

SIX people from Warrington have been honoured in the Queen’s New Year Honours including a soldier, musician and charity worker.
Major Robbie Davies, aged 50, received an MBE his for his role helping co-ordinate the move of Four Mechanised Brigade from Germany to the UK involving the transfer of 4,000 troops.
Musician Ewan Easton was awarded an MBE for voluntary work at Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institute at Appleton Thorn, by introducing Hallé4brass, a musical and educational project for inmates.
He has helped inspire more than 200 young people to learn a new skill and helped raise their self-esteem with regular concerts.
Patricia Bate also receives an MBE for services to the community in Warrington.
Donna Marie Hough, from Lymm, has received an MBE for services to health care in her role as Dental Workforce Development lead for Dental Care Professionals.
Hilary Kerr received an MBE for her services to children and young people with special needs in Warrington.
Finally Vicky Norman, a senior executive officer for the Child Support Agency also gets an MBE.

  1. I never understand why people get MBEs for doing their job…always seems to be those in the public sector too…Well done to Ewan Easton THE only voluntary one it would seem !!

    I suspect most readers have themselves or maybe their parents worked all thier lives don’t even get the livable pension they paid for..yet the public sector get MBEs for turning up to work…go figure ???

  2. RichP…how do you know that Ewan Easton was the only one to get his MBE for voluntary work? Just because it hasn’t said so in the article it doesn’t mean that each of the other people awarded got their for ‘just doing their job’. I know for a fact that at least one of the other (very deserved) ‘winners’ has been awarded theirs for voluntary services. Please do not judge others that have been deemed worthy of such an honour when you don’t know enough about the situation to pass comment! Well done to each of six, I think Warrington should be proud that we do indeed have ‘Six of the best!’
