NORTH WARRINGTON is soon to get its own community choir thanks to a grant from a regional fund the NWDA’s Celebr8 fund.
The project will be launched in the New Year by the borough council’s music service at Woolston Primary School and will aim to build on work already started by the school to offer singing and singing opportunities to the whole school community.
The choir will initially be for children attending Woolston Primary and nearby St Peter’s Catholic Primary School and their families.
It will also be open to all hearing impaired children and young people and their families.
After April the family choir will become intergenerational as residents from Woolston Hall, a local residential home for older people, will get involved too.
The Celebr8 funding has been given to just 12 projects in the North West to support them in promoting exciting and innovative community cohesion projects.
The project’s aims are to develop a common vision and a sense of belonging for people from different backgrounds.
The choir will be learning songs from Latvia and Poland, as the two schools have children from both these countries.
