FORMER Bridgewater High School pupil Adam White has become the first UK landscape architect to win a national design award treble.
Adam White, from Appleton Thorn, won the treble award for his King George’s Field Playscape project in the British Association of Landscape Industries construction awards.
Award winning isn’t something new to Adam who in 2007 won an RHS Gold Medal and BBC Peoples Choice Award.
Since then he has won various other awards and appeared in national and regional press and on television.
His “treble” came working with co-designer Andrée Davies and resulted in presentations at the awards cememony in London.
Their innovative Playscape project not only won a Land Renewal Award but also a Special Award for Commitment to the Community and a “Best UK Play Space” award.
This followed RHS Gold Medal successes at both RHS Hampton Court and RHS Tatton Flower Shows.
The BALI Award judges said: “this is an excellent example of detail design and construction. The involvement of the community in both the design and construction made it a worthy double award winner at this years BALI Awards”
The Landscape Institute Award judges said: “the Landscape Institute Awards recognise outstanding examples of work by landscape architects whose vision leads the way in creating innovative and dynamic landscapes. This is a beautiful piece of design in its own right and is also notable for its genuine community engagement”
Adam said: “I’ve been trying for several years to land the ‘treble’ and I am delighted to have at last done it.”
