How ICT can help public services

0

FIRST hand experience of how ICT can help public services was given to students from Priestley College, Warrington.
The youngsters, studying ICT-related courses, were guests at Warrington Hospital. They listened to presentations on how ICT in used in departments such as intensive care, contrasting it to the standard admin and office computing.
Pam Williams, clinical nurse educator, highlighted how ICT is essential in the day-to-day care of all, highlighting systems used for monitoring patients in theatre.
Recently the students also heard a presentation on how the police use ICT, and visited the Ford Factory at Halewood to look at the robotics systems used in car production.
Tutor Karen Morris said, “The opportunity to see ICT come to life within big organisations is very beneficial for the students.
“It shows them the level and importance of such systems and also gives them an idea of what types of careers they are able to pursue in the future.”
Picture shows Pam Williams from Warrington Hospital administering care to student Adam Jones, while Jordan Moore and Jake Cross-Bancroft look on.
