A NEW group, Friends of Alexandra Park, is looking at ways of improving the showpiece Stockton Heath facility.
Coun Graham Roughsedge told Stockton Heath Parish Council the aim was to put the park forward for Green Flag status.
He said if this is achieved it would mean that grants were available to help improve the park.
Coun Roughsedge said a recent meeting had been held attended by 30 people, to look at possible improvements to the park, and the friends group was started.
“The lighting needs to be improved. In some places it is very dark and this can be intimidating for people,” he said.
“Some of the borders also need digging over.”
some improvements were also being carried out including demolishing the toilets.
Future plans also include providing an area with activities for the over 12s.
