Town crash at home

WARRINGTON Town crashed to their first home defeat since the opening day of the season as they went down 1-4 to league newcomers AFC Fylde.
With the scores level 1-1 at the break after a wonder goal from striker Tony Evans to level the scores, Town collapsed at the back end of the second half, conceeding three goals in the last quarter.
Hot on the heels of their 5-2 victory over Sheffield in the FA Trophy last week Town got off to the worst possible start as Alex Porter netted after just two minutes.
But Warrington battled back into the game and deserved their equaliser when Evans fired home from 25 yards with a dipping shot over the keeper.
With the scores level at the break Warrington dominated for long periods in the second half but couldn’t find a way through a disciplined defence.
As Warrington pushed for an elusive second goal the visitors hit them on the break with number eleven Richie Allen finishing well, although he looked to be a couple of yards off-side.
Town’s heads dropped and Allen struck again on 81 minutes with substitute Matt Walwyn rubbing salt in the wounds with a fourth on 87 minutes.
After the game a disappointed Warrington Town manager Joey Dunn said he had given his players the “hair dryer treatment” although he didn’t believe his team deserved to be on the receiving end of four goals.
“I am frustrated and disappointed as we dominated for long periods but have been punished for not taking our chances. We need to be more clinical and I am struggling to find anything positive to say about the game.
“I know the lads will be disappointed and I will be looking for a reaction from them in the President’s Cup at Cammell Laird on Tuesday night.”
Dunn plans to field a full strength team in the cup game as he bids to get the team back on track for Saturday’s trip to Whitby Town in the 1st qualifying round of the FA Trophy.
