A FESTIVAL aimed at encouraging adults and children to find out more about the mysteries of the universe is being held in Warrington on Sunday October 4.
The British Science Association Mini Science Festival, with a range of hands-on activities, will be held at the STFC Daresbury Laboratory from 10am to 5pm.
During the day there will be dramatic demonstrations, interactive science experiments – many of which families can then try at home.
Visitors will be able to find out more about the history and habitats of a range of “cute critters” including birds of prey, snakes and reptiles.
There will also be talks on areas of science and technology. One lecture will be by BBC’s Meet the Ancestors’ archaeologist Julian Richards, who will be exploring how science is used in archaeology and what it can tell us about our ancestors.
He said: “I really enjoyed my last visit to Daresbury so I’m very pleased to be invited back to the mini science festival. I’ll be explaining how science can help archaeologists like me to explore the lives of our ancestors – how old they are, what they ate, where they came from and even what they looked like.”
Organisations taking part include the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), the North West British Science Association and the Cockcroft Institute for Accelerator Science and Technology.
