WARRINGTON Wolves will be bidding a
fond farewell to three players at the end of the season, with two
joining new clubs and one retiring.
Kiwi Prop Paul Rauhihi is retiring from the game and returning to his native New Zealand, while young forward Steve Pickersgill has agreed a three year deal at Widnes, where he will be teaming up with his former mentor and ex-Warrington head Coach Paul Cullen.
Rauhihi, who earlier in the season had been hoping for a one year extension and Pickersgill were given a fond farewell at the club’s annual end of season dinner.
Meanwhile former Wigan and Bradford utility back Paul Johnson is expected to be joining Wakefield.
A question mark still hangs over the future of winger Brian Carney who is recovering from a broken arm he suffered in the League defeat at Leeds.
Meanwhile club Captain Adrian Morley, (pictured left) who has taken up his 4th year option with the club, picked up the double accolade of “Players Player of the Year” and “Player of the Year” at last night’s awards dinner.
In presenting the award head of Coaching Tony Smith said: “I can’t remember him having a bad game. A couple of quieter games but never a bad game!
“He is a sensational performer and seems to be getting younger every year. He has found a new enthusiasm leading the club on and off the field.”
An exclusive video interview with Morley and his thoughts on the awards will be uploaded tomorrow.
