THREE musicians are travelling to Lymm from Dover to give a concert in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice
The Cambini Ensemble will present a programme for woodwind and piano at St Peter’s Church, Oughtrington on Sunday, September 13 at 2.30pm
Gill Kenchington was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of
Great Britain during which time she was awarded a Foundation
Scholarship to the Royal College of Music. She has given several BBC recitals and is a devotee of the wooden flute, playing a handmade Rudall Carte instrument dating from 1925.
William Kenchington began playing the clarinet at the age of 15 and has played at various times with the BBC Welsh Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Midland Light Orchestra and the Scottish National Orchestra. In
1979 he became Professor of Clarinet at the School of Music of the Royal Marines until early retirement in 1996.
John Harper might never have considered becoming a musician had not
the music master at his school, on hearing the 14-year-old
busking, self-taught, on a piano in a charity concert, insisted on him
taking piano lessons, even if he had to finance them himself!
In 2006 he became a Music Examiner for Trinity College, London and in
this capacity has travelled widely throughout England, Northern
Ireland and southern India.
Tickets and further details are available from Margaret and Michael Sharp on 01925 752126.
