WARRINGTON Wolves duo Simon Grix and Matty Blythe have signed one year extensions to their contracts, keeping them at the club until November 2010.
Grix signed for the Wolves in 2004 from his hometown club Halifax. He is a versatile player who can cover the centres and stand-off as well as play back row.
His 2009 campaign is proving to be one of his best at the club with nine appearances so far this season and 5 tries, including the brace of tries in Saturday’s win at Hull FC.
Local born Matty Blythe came through the Wolves Scholarship scheme with William Beamont School, turning full time professional for the first time in 2008.
He was in the starting 13 for this season’s opening game against St Helens and has since been a regular in the first team squad playing off the bench in six other games so far this season.
Wolves boss Tony Smith said: “We are delighted Simon has committed to the Wolves for another year. There has been some general interest shown but he has chosen to show his commitment to us. We are delighted to reward his recent solid performances. I am sure the some of his best is yet to come and am looking forward to working with him in the future.
“Matty has proven himself to be a great home-grown talent having come through the club and we are delighted to be producing young players like him. He has shown in his recent performances that he is progressing well as a player. I have no doubt that he has a big future ahead of him. He is a shining example to other young players coming through the system.”
