Neil to run three marathons in two months

WEB developer Neil Jones is facing the challenge of his lifetime as he gears up to run not one, not two, but three marathons in the space of two months.
He plans to run the Paris Marathon on April 5, the London Marathon on April 26 and finally, the Edinburgh Marathon on May 31.
Neil, 37, from Lymm, Warrington, has run and completed the London Marathon twice before to raise money for charity, but this year he wanted an extra challenge and set himself the task of completing three marathons to raise funds for the NSPCC. By the end of the final marathon Neil will have run a total of 78.6 miles, and he hopes to raise around £2,000 for the NSPCC.
He said: “This is definitely a challenge. Although I’ve run the London Marathon and a couple of half-marathons previously, three marathons in quick succession is my biggest challenge so far.”
The hard work and training will all be worthwhile if he succeeds in raising the funds for the NSPCC. He previously raised £2,000 for the NSPCC by running in the London Marathon in 2006 and he would like to exceed that amount this time if he can.
The NSPCC is the UK’s leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. It is the only children’s charity with statutory powers, enabling it to act to safeguard children.
Neil is well known in Lymm, often seen out on his training runs, and he is hoping the local community will support him in his marathon challenge. In fact many friends already have made donations and fund-raising is well underway.
“Already friends from my local pub in Lymm have been really generous and I hope other people in the village will sponsor me if they can,” he said. “Even a few pounds can make a huge difference. For example, a donation of £4 answers a child’s call to Childline which is a vital service for children who desperately need to speak out, but have nowhere to turn.”
