A WARRINGTON MP put in a plea for help for working women during the recession at Prime Minister’s Question Time in the House of Commons.
Warrington South MP Helen Southworth (pictured) made an appeal for help for women working through the credit crunch and recession.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown backed her plea for women to be helped to keep their jobs and learn new skills.
Mrs Southworth asked the PM: “In the current global economic instability, will the Prime Minister intervene rapidly to ensure that women workers who fear job losses get help to keep their jobs, learn new skills and keep the family income coming in?”
He agreed with her view and said that the success of recent years was partly due to more women getting into work because of extra training and child care.
The PM said that helping women develop work skills was part of his agenda.
