TWO important public consultations on planning policies and proposals for both the town centre and the whole of Warrington are under way.
For the first time, residents and businesses will be able to see the council’s proposals and express their views about
them online.
The idea is to make it easier than ever to get involved with future plans for the borough.
Once people have registered, they will be informed of future consultation events and kept involved for as long as they choose.
The first consultation relates to the council’s ambitions for regeneration and redevelopment of the town centre area including Bridge Street, Mersey Street and Academy Way.
It is available now for consultation until Monday March 16.
The second consultation relates to the council’s overall approach to planning and development in all areas of the borough looking at issues such as the scale and location of housing, employment development, the need for affordable housing
and the improvement of the town centre
Other issues include how climate change will be addressed, sustainable waste management and the conservation of the built and natural environment.
A particular focus will be consideration of the strategic infrastructure needed to support future development.
Consultation on this report will continue March 23.
Coun Bob Barr, (pictured) executive member for planning, regeneration and housing, said: “We are consulting on these matters to ensure that the approach we propose for the development and regeneration of Warrington has as much support as possible both in the community and with stakeholders.
“The town centre is the heart of our community and is facing particularly challenging times; we need to have a clear, shared vision of how this area can best serve the community and ensure we have the means to achieve it.”
Residents can take part in the consultation online by going to https://warrington.limehouse.co.uk/portal/planning, by calling at a library or the customer contact centre or by telephoning the planning policy team on 01925 442839.
