Tai Chi success for students

LOCAL Tai Chi students travelled to the Czech Republic for a grading assessment.
Lymm Tai Chi School took part in the assessment held by the Chinese Wushu Association, the official martial arts governing body in China, in Luhacovice.
The grading system Duan Wei, similar to the Dan grades in Japanese martial arts, has recently become available to practitioners in the West.
Successful Lymm students were Andrew Hesketh, who achieved a third Duan, and Clive Howells, Lee Davis-Concie, Mary McGregor and Danuse Gelatova, who all passed second level.
Lymm school instructors David Gaffney and Davidine Sim have travelled throughout the East to develop their skills and both have competed internationally and hold the 5th Duan.
David said: “The grading was a major international event with participants from as far away as Argentina, Russia, German and Poland. The student’s success is a major milestone for the development of Tai Chi in the UK.”
