PLANNING bosses are recommending that a hot food takeaway shop be allowed to stay open later – before the premises has even opened.
An adjoining wine bar in Common Lane, Culcheth has already set a pattern for late night-early morning activity, they believe.
The proposal, to be considered by Warrington’s development control committee on Monday, involves amending conditions on an original planning consent so that the takeaway can stay open until 1am Sunday-Wednesday and 2am Thursday-Saturday.
Currently it would be allowed to stay open until 11.30pm Sunday-Thursday and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council lodged strong objections on the grounds of noise, litter and obstructive parking.
They point out that the restrictions imposed on opening hours were in line with conditions suggested by the borough’s environmental heath department and to remove them would be inconsistent.
Officers say the level of late night noise and activity would not significantly increase beyond that currently associated with the wine bar.
They believe the main customer base at the takeaway during the extended hours are likely to be patrons of the wine bar.
In addition, they point out that there are no nearby houses.
