Students learn about saving lives

EARLY Years students from Warrington’s Priestley College spent a day learning crucial information that could help them to save somebody’s life.
The Emergency Aid Course run by the Football Association is primarily focussed on people involved in the sporting arena but was just as useful to the Early Years students, many of who will go onto work in the caring industries where such skills are of paramount importance.
Geoff Wareing, from the Football Association, ran the workshop across two days and was able to pass on information to more than 50 students.
From opening an airway to looking for a pulse, how to carry out chest compressions to dealing with a heart attack, Geoff guided the students through the do’s and don’ts of administering life saving treatments.
As part of their participation in the workshop all of the students were presented with official Football Association Certificates.
College tutor Rachel Walsh said: “Geoff has been a regular visitor to Priestley for a number of years, passing on his invaluable knowledge to our students.
“It’s very useful for them to be given a head start on topics such as this, so they can respond in a suitable fashion should they encounter any problems like this in their day-to-day lives.”
