A TRAINING initiative aimed at helping people on health related benefits find work has been launched in Warrington and Cheshire.
Intraining Employability celebrated the success of its official launch of Pathways to Work in the area when more than 120 people attended the prestigious event at the Daresbury Park Hotel with special guests including Mayor of Warrington Graham Welbourne.
Pathways to Work is a high profile government funded programme that focuses on helping individuals on health related benefits back into sustainable employment.
Chris Bailey, CEO of the Intraining Group thanked staff for their obvious hard work and addressed a packed house which included high profile employers, local support agencies and representatives of DWP and Jobcentre Plus.
“Many people on health related benefits are able and truly want to work,” said Chris.
“Some people may have had careers in the past and their illness has forced them to re-evaluate what they feel comfortable and able to do. Illness or disability doesn’t just impact on an individual; it impacts on the whole family.”
Other speakers at the event included Mark Wilson, District Manager of Warrington/Cheshire JCP and Dave Thompson MBE, Assistant Director of Inclusions & Partnerships for NHS and Chair of the Warrington Disability Partnership. Richard Hatley representing Tesco Stores plc, gave an employer’s perspective:
“Tesco is committed to supporting the Pathways to Work programme. Individuals that have been out of employment for a period of time prove to be some of our most dedicated and reliable members of staff.”
After the presentation, guests enjoyed a complimentary hot buffet and a networking opportunity. The delegates clearly enjoyed the event and are now looking forward to engaging with the Intraining team to create employment in the region.
