Fundraisers will bare all for cancer charity

TWO Warrington fundraisers are going to bare it all on national television – to raise the profile of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Marie Travers and Maria Roberts have taken part in popular Channel 4 show “How to Look Good Naked” with celebrity host Gok Wan.
They applied, along with five other Macmillan campaigners from across the North West, to become “Gokettes” after contemplating doing a Calendar Girls style photo shoot to raise the charity’s profile.
Marie, fundraising manager at the charity’s Birchwood base, said: “At first I didn’t think I could go through with it but after meeting Gok, he makes you feel empowered to face your fears and he’s even cheekier in real life!
“We wanted to do the programme as it has an audience of over 3.4 million people, it seemed like a great way to reach so many people and promote exactly what Macmillan does – support people! Especially as one in three of us will be affected at some point during our lives.
On a personal note it was also great for us to face the body fears we all have, it was a huge challenge but we felt so liberated afterwards!”
A new series of the show has just started and the Macmillan girls will feature in one of the episodes.
Anyone can get involved in raising money for the charity by logging on to www.macmillan.org.uk or by contacting Marie on 01925 846 740.
