Town crash to shock defeat

WARRINGTON Town’s 10 game unbeaten league run ended as they crashed to a shock 0-1 defeat to relegation threatened Cammell Laird.
With the game heading for a goaless draw Laird’s snatched victory with almost the last kick of the game in the 94th minute when substitute Aaron Bowen slotted home a rebound off Town keeper Paul Pritchard to snatch three valuable league points for the visitors.
Warrington were left counting the cost of numerous missed opportunities as they were constantly denied by a resolute Cammell Laird defence.
The visitors also created a number of chances with Pritchard in fine form in the Warrington goal, pulling off at least three top class saves.
Warrington thought they should have had a second half penalty for a clear hand ball but it wasn’t to be their night.
Manager Joey Dunn brought strikers Gavin Salmon and Tony Evans off the bench in a bid to break the deadlock but they couldn’t find a way through.
Dunn, although disappointed, remained upbeat after the game saying: “I have still got every faith in our players and although they are all disappointed I know they can turn things around.
“There is nothing we can do about this result now. What is important is how we react to it.”
Next up for Town is a trip to Radcliffe Borough on Saturday, who were on the receiving end of a 4-0 drubbing at Woodley Sports.
Warrington’s defeat saw them slip out of the play-off positions and down to sixth in the league table.

Pictures show Louis Corrigan taking on the Laird’s defence, keeper Pritchard making a fine save and Sam Finlay going close.
