WARRINGTON Wolves won their pre-season derby clash at Widnes with ease 18-48 at the Stobbart Stadium today.
Coach Tony Smith fielded a team mixed with experience and youth but they had too much class for their near neighbours in a mostly one sided encounter.
The game was over as a contest by half-time as the Wolves led 6-32 by the break.
Highlight of the game was a hat-trick for Warrington’s young half-back Craig Harvey.
The Wolves showed they meant business from the first whistle as Harvey opened the scoring and converted his own try after good work by the powerful david Solomona in the build up.
Widnes briefly rallied as Thomas Coyle forced his way over with Steve Tyrer adding the extras.
It was then all one way traffic to the break as Solomoa took control, going over himself following an exchange with Harvey.
Solomona then set up Rhys Williams and although Harvey missed both conversions Warrington were in control at 6-14.
Evans went over for his second try followed by two from Harvey to complete a first-half hat-trick.
Chris Bridge was successful with one conversion attempt as the Wolves led 6-28.A second try for Rhys Williams completed the first half scoring.
Second half tries for Chris Riley and Matty Blythe and a Harvey conversion put the Wolves in total control 6-40.
A converted Ben Kavanagh try for the home side made it 12-40 with Jack Owen reducing the arrears further as the home side rallied.
But Williams went over again for Warrington for his second try with Harvey adding the conversion and a late penalty to complete the scoring for the Wolves.

Richie Myler takes on the Widnes defence.
