Irish community gets ready to celebrate

WARRINGTON’S Irish community is celebrating its proud cultural traditions with a week of activities at various venues around the town.
The week will start on Saturday, March 14 at the Old Market Place at Golden Square when there will be free Irish entertainment from 12 noon to 4pm
Expect the sounds of Ireland brought to life with local Irish bands entertaining and Irish dancing from the Rogers Academy of Irish Dancing.
The next day there will be the traditional St Patrick’s Day Parade starting in Bridge Street at 10.30am.
The party ends back at the club with refreshments and music from Michael Coyne for the rest of the afternoon – and probably into the night.
Tuesday March 17 sees The Stars From The Commitments paint the town green at the Parr Hall with a nine-piece soul band from Dublin, including members of the original Commitments’ film.  The same day, back at the Irish Club there will be an afternoon of entertainment with Dermot Doyle, followed by an evening dance with Team Healy from 7pm.
The week will end on Friday March 20 with an Irish Ceilidh dance at the Pyramid.
